Novak was than placed in the immigration center, where he is waiting for the final decision after his lawyers appeal.

Novak Djokovic announced on Tuesday that he will play in the upcoming Grand Slam tournament Australian Open, after he received a medical exemption, in connection with the obligatory vaccination against the coronavirus.

The media portayed the situation Novak found himself in as if an exception was made only in Djokovic’s case and that he was trying to enter Australia unlawfully and promote his position on vaccination. In reality, information leaked that as many as 23 players in this year’s Australian Open received the exact same official exemption as Novak, and most of them have already arrived in Melbourne and started training.

The final decision on whether Novak Djokovic will be able to enter Australia and participate in the first Grand Slam of the season will be known on Monday, when the Federal Court of Australia will make final decision after the tennis team’s legal team appealed the decision to ban Novak from entering the country.

Novak is the record holder with nine Grand Slam titles won in the “Rod Laver Arena”, and this year in the Australia Opem he was to chase the 21st Grand Slam of his career, which would make him the most trophy-winning in history.

The Australian Open is scheduled for 17 January.
