69. Martovski festival

The 69th Edition of the Martovski Festival will take place from March 29 to April 2, 2022, in Belgrade Youth Center under the management of the Center.

One of the oldest Europe’s film festivals will this year go on for 5 days, and the audience will have the chance to watch a vast film program in several national competitive categories: documentary film with running time up to and over 50 minutes, experimental film and video art, animated film and short film. Starting from this year, the international selection will include all categories, instead of just short film, as it was until now.

We scheduled a number of premiers, special screenings, expert programmes and panel discussions for professionals and students, meetings and Q&A sessions with Festival guests, master classes, book promotions and other supporting programmes.Since 2019, the Art Director of the Martovski Festival has been Dejan Dabić, film critic and animated film director, and for many years the selector of the Niš Performing Arts Festival and the editor of the Cultural Center Niš Film Program.

The 69th Martovski Festival jury will determine the awards – the Festival Grand Prix, the best film in each category, specialized awards for best directing, script, camera, editing, animation and sound design/music is composed of: Lordan Zafranović, director and screenwriter (Jury president) – Croatia, Heinz Hermanns, short film dramaturgy professor – Germany, Milan Nikodijević, director, screenwriter and film producer – Serbia, Gianfilippo Pedote, film producer and screenwriter – Italy, Dragomir Zupanc, film and TV director – Serbia.

Besides the competition program, the Martovski Festival will have a traditionally abundant exhibition film program presented as International Panorama, Regional Panorama and National panorama. The audience will get the chance to see the winners of grand international film festivals, national, regional and world premieres, works of prominent national and international filmmakers, as well as selected works from notable European festivals of short films such as: Short Film Festival Drama (Greece), Vienna Shorts (Austria), InterFilm – Short Film Festival Berlin (Germany), Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film (B&H), Mediterranean Film Festival (B&H).

Traditionally, the Martovski Festival is the meeting point for national and international filmmakers, producers, distributors and festival directors, reporters, critics, students, and professionals. It is the promotion spot of documentary, animated, short and experimental film, a platform for inspiration and developing new ideas, as well as the chance for the local audience to see exciting, carefully picked latest films they cannot see through regular cinema channels.

Tickets are available at a popular price of 250 dinars, while film academy students, as always, will have a free entrance with a valid index.
