Belgrade Jazz Festival 2019

35th Belgrade Jazz Festival

35th Belgrade Jazz Festival is held under the slogan “JAZZ CELEBRATION”.

The jubilee festival is an opportunity to look back on the path that has led us to the present – in this case, to the point where Belgrade and Serbia are once again proud of a major international jazz event, popular with audiences of all generations – the Belgrade Jazz Festival.

Representing the tradition of openness of our environment to all universally important artistic tendencies, the festival was founded in 1971 as a link in connecting Yugoslavia with the world.

Those first years were spectacular in terms of the number and importance of the authors and musicians who encountered it, and over time the expectations of the audience grew, putting the organizers at the challenge of responding appropriately. During its 20 years of existence in the “first life”, the festival has become an institution for itself, a beacon of the culture of the former state.

The main stars of this the 35th Belgrade Jazz Festival will be performing at the Kombank Hall, a hall that is tied to the history of this event, so with the scheduled three concert days in that space, we will symbolically recall numerous concerts from a long history.

There we’ll have a chance to see some of the absolute jazz legends: October 23, bass guitarist Stanley Clarke with a band featuring brilliant young talent, and October 24, Dianne Reeves, a great jazz diva and one of the three most important singers of today.

The last festival night, October 27, is reserved for music by giants who have laid the groundwork for contemporary jazz tendencies – the program will be opened by the Mingus Big Band, with a selection of compositions by the unforgettable Charles Mingus, and close by Charles Lloyd, a live jazz icon, one of the greatest a leader and improviser of all time, an inexhaustible thinker and innovator.

The event is finished.
