The traditional choice of best sportswoman and man was made at the Serbian parliament on 22 December 2017, organised by the Serbian Olympic Committee and the embassy of the Republic of Korea.

The most successful sportswoman was Milica Mandić, world champion in taekwondo, while the men’s competition was won by world kayak champions Milenko Zorić and Marko Tomićević. As co-organiser of this year’s presentation of awards, the embassy of the Republic of Korea promoted the approaching winter Olympic games in PyeongChang. The best Serbian trainer was announced as Dragan Gale Jović, the most successful young sportswoman Tijana Bošković, the best Serbian women’s team the volleyball team and the best men’s team the water polo players.

Three special awards were given to world number one in Taekwondo Vanja Stanković, wrestling champion Viktor Nemeš and world judo champion Nemanja Majdov. The winner of the first ‘Olympic Heart’ award was Vladimir Cvetković.

Republic of Korea Chargé d’Affaires Kichang Park spoke to those present in Serbian congratulating the award-winners on their success last year and welcoming them all to the snows of PyeongChang, where the winter Olympics and Paralympics will be held in March 2018.
