In Serbia, online shopping has become a daily norm, with more than 225,000 purchases made every day in 2024, according to the latest figures from the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).
This surge in digital transactions saw a remarkable 39.2% increase over the previous year, with the total value of online purchases surpassing 162.3 billion dinars (approximately €735 million) and 217.4 million dollars.
The number of domestic e-commerce stores also rose significantly, by 17.9%, reaching 4,726 by the end of 2024.
This growth in local online shops is fueling the wider trend, with more consumers choosing digital payments.
Interestingly, over two-thirds of these purchases were made in local currency, while the euro, dollar, and other foreign currencies accounted for the rest.
With an annual growth rate of nearly 40%, Serbia’s online shopping landscape is thriving, a testament to the changing habits of consumers.
As the nation continues to embrace the convenience of digital transactions, Serbia’s e-commerce sector is poised for even more significant developments in the years to come.
