Representatives from the Government of Serbia, the City of Belgrade, and Chinese company PowerChina signed a €720 million agreement for Lot 2 of the first phase of Belgrade Metro Line 1.
Minister Darko Glišić expressed confidence that the project will bring long-term benefits to both Belgrade and Serbia.
The metro system, which will consist of three lines across nine municipalities, aims to revolutionize public transport in the capital.
The agreement covers design, execution, and procurement of tunnel boring machines (TBM), with an implementation timeline of 45 months, plus two years.
Lot 2 will be financed by the state budget, allowing for quicker construction of the first phase.
This project marks a crucial step in improving Belgrade’s infrastructure and fostering future urban development.
