Fortis Energy and its Serbian subsidiary, Construction DOO Beograd, have signed a framework agreement with PowerChina International Group Limited to collaborate on renewable energy initiatives across Southeast Europe.
This partnership will focus on the development and construction of wind and solar power projects in Serbia and the broader region, leveraging the significant potential of these resources.
Based in Belgrade, Fortis Energy serves as the Eastern European hub for Fortis Energy Türkiye, overseeing operations in multiple countries including Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. The company is currently progressing several key projects in Serbia, including 509 MW of wind farms and 387 MWp of solar power projects. Fortis has also expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of two biogas power plants in Pančevo, Serbia.
The agreement with PowerChina encompasses projects with a combined capacity exceeding 850 MW, set to significantly contribute to the region’s transition to a low-carbon economy. These ventures are expected to generate employment, foster economic growth, and provide clean energy to millions across Southeast Europe. PowerChina, already an established player in Serbia’s renewable energy sector, continues to deepen its involvement in the region through this strategic partnership.
