The expansion of the European Union is one of the priorities for the coming period, stated Denmark’s Minister for European Affairs, Marie Bjerre, during her visit to Serbia, noting that Serbia demonstrates a strong commitment to joining the EU and that it is only natural for its efforts toward membership to be supported.

“Serbia is part of the European continent. Therefore, it shares the same values, and it is natural for us to encourage it on its path to EU membership,” said Bjerre.

She added that Serbia’s European path involves certain reforms—free media, an independent judiciary, and respect for all fundamental EU rights and values.

“Now is the moment for enlargement. We are guiding Serbia to make the most of it. We hope your country seizes this opportunity, and we are here to support it in every possible way,” the minister conveyed.
