After the success of previous editions in 110 cities of the world, Italian Design Day will be held this year on 20 March 2019
This project is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Culture, Italian Trade Agency, Confindustria, Furniture Salon in Milan, Association for Industrial Design, Compasso d’Oro Foundation and Federation Federlegno Arredo.
Italian Design Day aims to mark the outstanding Italian design in the world as a significant sector of Italian culture and economy.
This initiative includes 100 “ambassadors” of Italian design who in more than 100 cities around the world, starting from the theme “Design and the City of the Future.” The quality of life and new housing borders highlight the role of Made in Italy in improving the quality of life.
On the occasion of the third edition of the Italian Design Day, the Embassy of Italy in Belgrade and the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade will host the lecture of the architect Mateo Fantoni from Studio Fantoni in Milan, which will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 19.00 in the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade.
On that occasion, the Italian designer Mateo Fantoni, with the architect Zoran Đukanović from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade, will exchange experiences and discuss the relationship between design and sustainability in economic, social and environmental terms.
The Museum of Science and Technology will also feature the exhibition “Ten Words”, which includes the works of 30 designers on the rise who illustrated ten words of the Italian language related to the world of culture and design.
The exhibition is the result of the project “Italianism” which valorises the connection between the Italian language and the world of designers, whose latest edition was realised on the theme “Design of the Word. Word Designers”.
The Italian design is characterised by a constant renewal of topics and schemes thanks to the creativity of the authors and the incentives of the clients. The inventiveness and originality in design, the quality of materials used, the careful processing of the items, the environmental productive process, the one who makes those products, and who uses them, then a very high level of packaging graphics and advertising are those characteristics that are made Italian design famous, prestigious and recognizable in the world.
