With the commissioning of the first 5G base station in Serbia in the Science-Technology Park Belgrade, Telenor has created a 5G environment that can be used by national and foreign companies, start-ups and students of technical faculties in developing solutions for the technology of the future as of today.
Telenor rolled out first 5G station in Serbia
The fifth generation of mobile internet promises to accelerate cellular data transfer speeds from 100 Mbps to 10 Gbps, a massive boost that will make next-generation wireless competitive with even the fastest fibre-optic wired networks. 5G should significantly improve the bandwidth, capacity and reliability of cellular broadband far more than previous generational shifts. Low latency is one of 5G’s most important attributes, making the technology highly suitable for critical applications that require rapid responsiveness, such as remote vehicle control, MBB services, smart grid, medicine, communal services, agriculture and smart manufacturing.
“We share the vision of Serbia as the leader in the region in developing digital economy and innovations. 5G is the technology of the future and we want to be ready for the moment when it is commercially available. We are inviting companies from the country and region to use the opportunity that 5G environment is available and to start developing their business solutions for the future now”, said the CEO of Telenor Serbia, Mike Michel.
