“Serbia remains on the European path, but we are explicitly against the imposition of sanctions on Russia and Serbia’s membership in the NATO pact that bombed us,” said Nenad Popović, a minister in the Serbian government and chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation with Russia during the talk with the vice president of Konstantin Kosachev, vice president of the Council Russian Federation Council.

Minister Popović added that Serbia, with the support of Russia, will continue to protect its territorial integrity in Kosovo, as well as the Dayton powers of the Republika Srpska.

During the conversation, it was said that the relations between Serbia and Russia are the best in history, which, as pointed out, was especially contributed by the strong personal friendship and mutual trust between President Vladimir Putin and Aleksandar Vučić.

Speaking about Serbia as one of the most respected European countries, Kosachev stated that Serbia has achieved extraordinary economic growth in the last eight years, strengthened its sovereignty in political decision-making and restored its international reputation. He also expressed satisfaction with the continuous growth of economic relations between Serbia and Russia, emphasizing the role of the Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation between Serbia and Russia, led by Minister Nenad Popović and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov.

Minister Popović pointed out that one of the most important goals of Serbia in the coming period is to strengthen economic, political and military cooperation with Russia.
