Peter Sørensen, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Belgrade–Pristina Dialogue, recently paid a working visit to Belgrade as part of his efforts to reinvigorate negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo. His agenda focused on strengthening trust and advancing the implementation of previously agreed commitments.
During his meetings with Serbian officials, Sørensen discussed Serbia’s expectations regarding the swift fulfilment of obligations, particularly the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities — a cornerstone of the 2013 Brussels Agreement. Serbian representatives underlined their concerns over Pristina’s reluctance to implement key elements of the agreement, stressing the need for balanced progress.
Sørensen described his discussions in Belgrade as constructive and emphasised the importance of both parties honouring their commitments in order to ensure lasting stability and move closer to European integration.
Prior to his visit to Belgrade, Sørensen travelled to Pristina, where he held talks with Kosovo’s leadership and representatives of civil society. His regional tour reflects the EU’s continued support for the normalisation process and its commitment to fostering dialogue despite ongoing challenges.
