Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić spoke with H.E. Aleksandar Botsan-Kharchenko, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, the president’s office announced.
The press release says that Vučić informed the ambassador about the current situation in the Western Balkans and emphasized the unwavering determination of Serbia’s state leadership to act to preserve peace and stability in the region.
“Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko congratulated the president on his re-election to the responsible position of head of state, and wished him to continue to contribute to the progress of Serbian society and its economy with his dedicated work”, the statement added.
Thanking him for his congratulations, president Vučić said that Serbia, on its European path, will continue to preserve traditional friendships and partnerships with Russia and China.
The meeting discussed the further development of Serbian-Russian bilateral relations, including in the field of energy, with the expectation that talks on the quantities, prices and other conditions of gas supply will begin soon.
“During the meeting, Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko spoke about how Russia sees the conflict in Ukraine. President Vučić expressed hope for an imminent end to the conflict and a desire for lasting peace”, the statement concluded.
