The Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Chargé d’Affaires at the French embassy and the director of the Institut Français in Serbia have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of teaching French in educational institutions of the Republic of Serbia.

The memorandum of cooperation in the field of teaching French and bilingual French-Serbian teaching in educational institutions of the Republic of Serbia was signed this Friday, 20 October 2017 by Mr Mladen Šarčević, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Nicolas Faye, Chargé d’Affaires at the French embassy and Mr Jean-Baptiste Cuzin director of the Institut Français in Serbia.

This memorandum of cooperation defines a framework for strengthening common work in the field of learning French and teaching in French for the next two school years (2017-2018 and 2018-2019) and represents support to the modernization of teaching in Serbian schools. This agreement enables the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development to work with the Institut Français in Serbia, which carries out cultural and educational work in the name of the French Embassy with the network of educational institutions that carry out a programme of bilingual French-Serbian teaching.

In the same way, this agreement defines more precisely the contract on taking the examination for the DELF diploma (Diplôme d’études en langue française) in schools in the Republic of Serbia, which makes it possible for students to officially determine the level of knowledge of French that they have achieved; in the spring of 2018 more than 120 educational institutions for elementary and secondary education will be able to propose to their students to take this examination, and they will be able to do this in more than 45 towns throughout Serbia.
