In a heartening example of how global brands can drive local change, McDonald’s Serbia has been named one of the winners of the 2024 Đorđe Vajfert National Award for Corporate Social Responsibility, bestowed by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
The accolade honours the company’s decades-long partnership with the Creative Educational Centre, which has empowered over 250 young people with intellectual disabilities to enter the workforce and live actively within their communities.
McDonald’s has also ramped up its environmental and social impact efforts through its “Small Steps for Big Changes” platform—phasing out plastic utensils, switching to sustainable packaging, and working with low-emission suppliers.
Volunteers have supported sensory garden projects and inclusive education spaces, while tree-planting efforts underscore their climate commitment.
With its blend of compassion and corporate accountability, McDonald’s Serbia offers a refreshing take on what it means to serve the community.
