Serbia is an excellent destination for investment by Korean companies, said HE Lee Jung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, during talks with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlović.

Jung noted that his country is interested in working on the Serbian market, and pointed out that the Republic of Korea has decided to be a carbon-neutral country that relies on nuclear and renewable energy sources, and is one of the strongest countries in the world in that field.

“I think we can cooperate in that sector and in energy in general, because our companies are interested in the Serbian market”, said the ambassador.

The meeting also touched on the energy transition, improving energy security and independence in gas, the importance of modernizing energy infrastructure and the impact of the crisis on energy at the global level, according to an announcement by the cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy.

Jung also expressed his condolences over the accident at the Soko mine, in which eight miners perished.
