Hemofarm and the Hemofarm Foundation have won the VIRTUS Main Award for contributing at the national level to the campaign to support the organ donation and transplantation programme in Serbia – THE MOST IMPORTANT CALL IN LIFE. According to the assessment of the jury, in 2016, cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Health, company Hemofarm and Hemofarm Foundation raised public attention regarding the problems faced by people on the waiting list to receive a new organ, influencing the creation of a positive attitude regarding the adoption of the new Law on Transplantation.

THE MOST IMPORTANT CALL IN LIFE (NAJVAŽNIJI POZIV U ŽIVOTU) is a campaign that strives, through cooperation between the highest social institutions, the state and the City of Belgrade, to contribute to changing perceptions regarding the donation of organs in Serbia. It achieved its first major success when 6th June was declared the National Day of Donors. In the long term, the goal of the campaign is to create a better and healthier society, leading to the emergence of a larger number of donors in Serbia and allowing people on the waiting list to gain a new chance at life.

“The donating and transplanting of organs should be a topic of the highest public interest in any society. With only three donors per million inhabitants, Serbia is at the very bottom of the list of European donors and our campaign is focused on donations no longer being incidental, but rather becoming the kind of phenomenon found in some European countries and in the region. Donating provides huge hope for the whole of society and for its future. That’s why I invite you to become a donor if you haven’t already, and I invite you to join in contributing to THE MOST IMPORTANT CALL IN LIFE achieving its full meaning” – said Ronald Seeliger, CEO of Hemofarm and Vice President of STADA Group for Southeast Europe.
