There are 6,647,003 inhabitants in Serbia, the Republic Statistical Office (RZS) announced in Book 1 – “Nationality”, which contains the final results of the 2022 Census on the total number of inhabitants of the Republic of Serbia, by gender and the answer to the question about nationality
Women make up slightly more than half of the total population, i.e. 3,415,025 or 51.4 percent, while men make up 3,231,978 or 48.6 percent, it was announced on the website of the Republic Institute of Statistics.
According to the 2011 census, there were 7,186,862 inhabitants in Serbia, i.e. 539,859 more than according to the census conducted last year.
A total of 5,360,239 Serbs or 80.64 percent live in Serbia, and in second place are persons whose nationality is unknown – 322,013 (4.84 percent), while there are 136,198 (2.05 percent) citizens who have not declared their nationality ).
Among the citizens who declared their nationality, Hungarians are in second place in terms of number, with 184,442, followed by Bosniaks with 153,801 and Roma with 131,936.
Other peoples and nations are represented below one percent, so there are 61,687 0.93 Albanians, 39,107 Croats, 27,143 Yugoslavs and 20,238 Montenegrins.
The least are Germans – 2,573, Slovenians 2,829, Ukrainians 3,969 and Gorani 7,700.
There are 41,730 Slovaks, 23,044 Romanians, 21,013 Vlachs, 13,011 Macedonians, 12,918 Bulgarians, 11,418 Russians, and 10,486 Russians.
Census 2022 is the first census of population, households and dwellings in which digital and electronic forms were successfully used.
