All art lovers can enjoy this exhibition at the Historical Museum of Serbia until 29th October 2017
An exhibition of paintings by Gaspar van Wittel from the art collection of Intesa Sanpaolo – the international banking group that includes Banca Intesa – has officially opened at Belgrade’s Historical Museum of Serbia.
This exclusive cultural event was organised at the initiative of Gian Maria Gros-Pietro chairman of the Intesa Sanpaolo board of directors, who is currently visiting Belgrade.
The exhibition comprises van Wittel’s oils on canvas from the early 18th century, View of Rome from the Piazza Navona (Veduta di Roma con Piazza Navona) and View of Rome from the Piazza del Popolo (Veduta di Roma con Piazza del Popolo).
Both paintings are typical representatives of the veduta genre of landscape painting, of which Van Wittel was one of the main pioneers, and are generally preserved at Naples’ Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano.
