The Serbian Association of Economists submitted an official bid in late May this year to host the 21st World Congress of the International Economic Association (IEA), scheduled for June 2026, and is currently among the finalists for the hosting rights.
This was confirmed by the visit of Omar Licandro, a member of the IEA’s Executive Committee, who spent two days in Belgrade to assess the city’s potential for organizing this prestigious event.
“Hosting the prestigious IEA World Congress in Belgrade is a unique opportunity for the Serbian Association of Economists and all participants to connect with the global economic community, foster meaningful dialogue, exchange innovative ideas, and create new partnerships that will shape the future of the economy and contribute to global prosperity and progress,” said Aleksandar Vlahović, President of the Serbian Association of Economists.
He emphasized that full support has been secured from all relevant institutions, the business sector, the academic community, and under the patronage of the Government of Serbia.
