The Batajnica loop, which gives residents of this settlement a direct exit to the E-75 motorway and a connection to the old Novi Sad street, was opened today in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

“Batajnica is literally like a city, it has 25,000 inhabitants itself”, emphasized President Vučić.

He said that it’s not just about the loop, it’s also about people’s lives, a better standard. “The point is, if you’re just connecting big centers, you’re doing nothing in the construction of a freeway.”

“This loop means life in every direction,” emphasized Vucic.

All citizens must benefit from the streets, not just the ones in the center of Belgrade. This is an important day for Zemun, Batajnica, Pazova, said Vucic.

Vučić said that the loop will be important for the connection with the logistics center for intermodal transport, which will contribute to the development of other infrastructure projects.

Zemun Municipality President Gavrilo Kovacevic said that this event was very important. “Opening the loop in Batajnice is the most significant capital investment of the Belgrade bypass,” he said.

This will allow residents to have a faster flow of traffic, arriving and departing from work.

“We are working on many projects in Batajnica – high-speed railway Belgrade-Novi Sad, local roads, construction of an overpass in Batajnica, construction of a sewage treatment plant, reconstruction of the water supply network, reconstruction of the school, ambulance from the local health center …” said Kovacevic.

The opening of the loop has real potential for expanding the industrial area in Zemun, said Kovacevic.

The opening of the loop will also be attended by the Minister of Construction Tomislav Momirović, the Director of the Corridor of Serbia, Aleksandar Antić, the Acting Director of the Roads of Serbia, Zoran Drobnjak, the Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojičić. Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić, representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to Antic, 3,450 meters of road were built.
