German Ambassador to Serbia Thomas Schieb said that democracy, freedom of thought and expression, independent institutions and human rights are extremely fragile concepts, which must be constantly defended, and in extreme situations by military means.

At the opening of the conference “Democracy: Minimal Consensus” organized by CRTA, Shib said that in recent years the international order based on rules has suffered great pressure, which has increased with Russia’s attack on Ukraine, and that democratic institutions in some countries are under populist pressure, while the phenomenon of spreading false news is also present.
