Relations between Serbia and the United States of America are getting better, both bilateral and trade, American investments in Serbia are worth 4.5 billion dollars, and American companies are determined to invest in the future of Serbia and its next generation, the US ambassador said. Christopher Hill guesting on K1 television.
Ambassador Hill also noted that the US absolutely supports Serbia on its European path and wants Serbia to become a member of the EU.
“There is a lot of progress in economic relations and that is important. One of the main elements we have there is the American Chamber of Commerce. We have big investments here. Big American companies have decided to invest not only in Serbia, but also its future and its next generation. The investment is $4.5 billion and that’s serious money,” Hill said.
The US ambassador also said that Serbia should decide for itself whether to impose sanctions on Russia, but that it must take a clear position on whose side it wants to be – on the side of the West or, as he said, on no man’s land.
Commenting on the fact that Serbia did not impose sanctions on Russia, Hill stated that he could not influence that decision, as well as that Belgrade should take a clear position as it had in the UN when it comes to “Russian aggression”.
“Serbia knows what it needs to do and I think it should have a clear position, as it had in the UN when it comes to Russian aggression,” concluded ambassador Hill.
