The Belgrade theater Atelje 212 celebrated its 66th birthday with an exhibition of stage costume and design entitled “This is staged”.
Actress and director of Atelje 212 Gorica Popović, solemnly opened the exhibition in the Foyer of the theater. She addressed guests and said that the institution of theater is eternal, and neither wars nor natural disasters, can ruin the cultural richness it provides.
“Such circumstances can only temporarily stop theatre, a bit extreme, but the theater always returns with a smile. The theater cannot survive without young people, new ideas and new energy, and fortunately, in Atelje 212 we refreshed our acting ensemble with several wonderful young people who carry the repertoire”, Gorica Popović pointed out.

The Atelje 212 theater began its work on 12 November 1956, with the premiere concert performance of Goethe’s “Faust” directed by Mira Trailović, in which Marija Crnobori, Mata Milošević, Viktor Starčić and Ljubiša Jovanović played, in the small hall of the old “Borba” building. Back then Atelje 212 had only 212 chairs in the auditorium.
