Ambassadors of Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway in Serbia sent First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic a letter of gratitude letter for the kind offer to transport citizens of these Nordic countries who happened to be in Serbia at the moment of declaration of the state of emergency.

The Air Serbia plane picked up Serbian citizens in Stockholm. The citizens of the Nordic countries were flown back to their homes on this plane.

Content of the letter:

„Dear Minister,

Yesterday, an Air Serbia plane was sent to Stockholm to bring home Serbian citizens stuck there. At the time when the decision was made to send the plane, your Ministry kindly offered to return with the same airplane citizens of Nordic countries who happened to be in Serbia.

Through intensive work and cooperation among Nordic embassies in Belgrade, we managed to get in touch with the majority of those citizens during the weekend and board them onto the above-mentioned airplane. They have returned to their homes and are grateful for that.

We would like to express gratitude to the Serbian government on the organisation of that flight and to highlight excellent cooperation and kindness of the Office of the Protocol of your Ministry and Dragan Petrovic personally.

Additionally, we would like to emphasize that the airport and border police staff at Nikola Tesla airport solved often difficult questions in a very professional and cooperative way, which will be surely remembered not only by the Nordic embassies, but by the passengers too.

For medical reasons, borders have appeared again throughout Europe. However, this is a temporary situation. The acts of help and cooperation in resolving this challenge for all our societies will remain engraved in our memory longer than the current restrictive measures.

Cordially,

Jan Lundin, Ambassador of Sweden
Anders Christian Hougard, Ambassador of Denmark
Kimmo Lahdevirta, Ambassador of Finland
Jorn Eugen Gjelstad, Ambassador of Norway

Belgrade,
1 April 2020”
