Nuclear physicist Ivan Petrović was awarded the French National Order of Merit, which was presented to him on behalf of President Emanuel Macron by HE Pierre Bashar, French Ambassador to Belgrade.

The Order, established by General De Gaulle in 1963, was awarded to Dr Petrović for his outstanding contribution to science and French-Serbian scientific cooperation over almost 40 years of scientific research in nuclear physics at the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences.

Noting that the goal of this decoration is to reward outstanding merits, both civilian and military, ambassador Bashar told Petrović that his road in life, which besides France has also led him through Germany and Italy, and his immeasurable contribution to Serbian and French research, shows the extent to which Serbia’s destiny is shared with the EU.
