The American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia AmCham held its second annual health policy conference at Belgrade’s Hotel Metropol, which saw discussions of the possibilities and best practises for improving the health system in Serbia.
Participants included Verica Lazić, Director of the Republic Health Insurance Fund, Meho Mahmutović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health, representatives of the Finance Ministry and members of the AmCham Health Committee.
Mahmutović noted that the conference provided yet more confirmation of the very successful cooperation that has been realised for years by AmCham and the Serbian Health Ministry.
“In the period ahead, we expect the adoption of key laws in the health domain, which provide the basis for health policy and which include the Health Insurance Act. The aim of the Republic Health Insurance Fund is to advance the rights of insured persons with funds provided by obligatory health insurance, and will continue in that direction in the forthcoming period,” announced Lazić.
“This open dialogue has shown how complex topics improving efficiency and public procurement in the healthcare system are, but also that optimal solution which considers the interests and safety of patients is quite possible and achievable,” said AmCham Executive Director Vera Nikolić Dimić.
