The Day of Courage and the Bulgarian Army Day – 6th May – was marked with an official reception at the Bulgarian Ambassadorial Residence, which was hosted on 10th May by Angel Dimitrov, Ambassador of Bulgaria.
Among the guests at the reception were Serbian officials from the ministries of defence and internal affairs, as well as representatives of the military mission in Belgrade, the diplomatic corps, representatives of non-governmental organisations, business organisations, journalists and other guests.
The Day of Courage and the Holiday of the Bulgarian Army is one of Bulgaria’s most important national holidays. That day is celebrated in the name of St. George, the patron saint of the Bulgarian Army, and has been celebrated as a holiday in Bulgaria since 1879 when the Army of modern Bulgaria was formed.
