Last month German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier awarded Sonja Licht, President of the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE), with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bellevue Palace, Berlin.

A week later, Ambassador of Germany to Serbia H.E. Axel Dittmann hosted a formal reception at the ambassadorial residence in her honour. He stated that Sonja Licht is a tireless fighter for human rights, freedom and democracy in the region.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said she is proud of the way Licht represents Serbia abroad.

Sonja Licht is the first Serb to whom the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany was assigned.
