The mosaic shows Christ ascending to the heavens on the cupola 65 metres above ground.
This has been one of the greatest mosaic decoration projects in the world. The 40-tonne decoration was composed in Moscow taking a year to make, then transported to Belgrade. The mosaic is a work by artists led by the famous Nikolaj Muhin, financed with €4 million by the Russian company Gaspromnjеft.
