Resolve Waste Problems More Efficiently

The conference entitled “Environmental Protection – Waste Management”, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia (AmCham) and attended by Serbian Environment Minister Goran Trivan, U.S. Ambassador Kyle Scott and representatives of AmCham member companies, saw conference participants conclude that the establishing of a more effective regulatory framework for waste management is of utmost importance for preserving the environment, but also for Serbia’s EU accession process.

The conference also included discussions of the issue of extended liability for manufacturers in the field of packaging and packaging waste, as well as in the area of special waste flows.

“The United States strongly supports the Government of Serbia and its efforts to join the EU, as well as the comprehensive reforms through which Serbia achieves European standards of environmental protection,” said Ambassador Scott, adding that “environmental protection and waste management are the foundations of modern economics”.
