Red Star Rugby League Club has won the sport’s Serbian Cup for the first time in history, winning the final at New Belgrade’s Radnički Stadium 36:20 (24:12) against arch-rivals and previous cup holders Dorćol RLC.
This victory saw the ‘Red & Whites’ end Dorćol’s 15-year domination of this competition. Just as the team broke Dorćol’s 12-year stranglehold on the league title in 2014, so the victory marked their second win over Dorćol this season and also meant the club has now won all competitions on the domestic scene.
Having already won this season’s Supercup, Red Star sits at the top of the league table and hopes are strong that it can achieve the “triple crown” this year.
As of this season, CorD Magazine has been supporting the Red Star team, which is managing to achieve excellent results with minimal resources.
“Red Star Rugby League Club would like to extend its thanks to CorD Magazine for its continued support to the club and our players. We finally overcame a great hurdle by winning the Cup of Serbia, thereby becoming the first Red Star generation to do so. We couldn’t have done it without you…” said Red Star’s RLC Co-Directors Zeljko Delic and Mark Pullen.
