Nordic Innovative Business In Serbia

The Norwegian Ambassadorial Residence in Belgrade hosted the conference Nordic Innovative Business in Serbia, which was co-organised by the Nordic Business Alliance and the Norwegian Embassy in Serbia.

The conclusion drawn at the conference is that the partial application of the Law on Public Procurement hinders fair market competition and is among the main difficulties faced by foreign companies and investors operating in Serbia.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said that the incomplete implementation of this law is not only a hindrance for Nordic companies, but rather, as she noted, the entire economy in Serbia, and the state administration in particular.

“In the domain of public procurement, Serbia has a modern and good legal framework, but its consistent application is key to enabling fair competition on the market and the equal treatment for all participants, as is the case in the Nordic countries,” said Jasmina Vignjević, president of the Nordic Business Alliance

Norwegian Ambassador H.E. Arne Bjørnstad concluded that Serbia has progressed a long way towards creating equal conditions for doing business, but that there is plenty more still to be done.
