French Week, hosted by the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, was opened in Belgrade on 20 November.

This event, which takes place from November 20 to 27, is the seventh consecutive year, and this year is of particular importance because it is the year when we celebrate the first decade of our Chamber.

The aim of the French Week is to promote the historical, cultural and business ties between France and Serbia, and its period is tied to the widespread custom in France – the welcome of young French wine Beaujolais nouveau.

French Week opened with a festive reception attended by over 400 guests, diplomats, directors of French and Serbian businesses, celebrities and public figures. In front of the French Embassy, the guests were welcomed by the French Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Jean-Louis Falconi, who praised the work of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and stated that business communities are the engine of Franco-Serbian relations and that relations are additionally reinforced by President Macron’s recent friendly visit.

President of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce Dragoljub Damljanovic also addressed the announcement announcing the French Week program. He emphasized that this year is especially important because we are celebrating the 10th anniversary and that in July this year the visit of French President Emanuel Macron made the Franco-Serbian relations even stronger and more dynamic. Director of the Franco-Serbian Chamber of Commerce Sanja Ivanic also wished the guests a good time.

New Beaujolais nouveau is a young French wine consumed immediately after fermentation. Across France, on the third Thursday of November, New Bozole is welcomed in restaurants, cafes, with music and a festival atmosphere. For seven years now, the Franco-Serbian Chamber of Commerce has transposed the custom to Serbia, celebrating it with partners and officials of the Chamber. The organization of France this week was supported by the largest French companies that have been operating in Serbia for years: Schneider Electric, Atos, Crédit Agricole, Suez, Renault, Lesaffre, Smart Point, Airbus and Adria Media Group.

In addition to welcoming young French wine, a tasting of French cheeses and delicacies was also organized for the Chamber’s Chamber, where various companies presented their products at special stands and organized promotions, activities and presented gifts to guests. They introduced themselves at this mini fair. In addition, the dinner, which was held at the Promenada Club, featured the famous French companies Mlekoprodukt (Savencia fromage & dairy) and Somboled (Lactalis) with their products.
