The Embassy of Finland in Belgrade and the Cultural Centre of Belgrade jointly organised a concert of the music of Jean Sibelius at the Belgrade City Assembly, where Sibelius’s classical pieces were performed by renowned Finnish pianist Uki Ovaskainen, who is well-known to the audience in Belgrade, soprano Aneta Ristić and cellist Vuk Ovaskainen.
The concert was held under the auspices of festivities marking this year’s centenary of Finnish independence.
According to H.E. Ambassador Pertti Ikonen, “The goal of this jubilee celebration is to introduce the public to Finland, its culture, values and social life, as well as the successful cooperation that exists between the Nordic countries, which may be a good model for this region”.
