The sixth traditional Christmas charity concert of The International Belgrade Singers choir was held at the Embassy of Canada on 14 December.
The audience was addressed by Frédéric Lesueur, Administrative Advisor and Consul at the Canadian Embassy in Belgrade, who welcomed the guests and the new Canadian ambassador, H.E. Mrs Kati Csaba, a member of the choir. He then presented a check symbolising a donation to Dr Danijela Vukcević of the rehabilitation clinic Dr Miroslav Zotović.
The funds had been collected to buy New Year’s presents for children hospitalized in the clinic in Sokobanjska 13.
The programme began with greetings in six languages followed by songs: traditional, medieval, traditional Christmas, contemporary (Ola Gjeilo and Damien Kehoe) and spiritual (Mokranjac).
The compositions were sung in eight languages (Latin, Norwegian, French, Italian, English, German, Serbian and Japanese). Some of them had been first sung in Serbia in arrangements specially written for this choir by professor Ilija Rajković.
The choir has been successfully led for the third season by conductor Katarina Milosević and accompanied by the brilliant pianist Tijana Gnjatović. The audience sang along with well-known pieces, and everyone had a good time.
