The Museum of African Art hosted a reception on the occasion of Africa Day, which was attended by numerous personalities from the political and public life of Serbia.

Africa Day is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the date when the Organisation of African Unity, whose successor is the African Union, was founded in 1963 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the aim of fighting for the complete decolonisation of Africa, but also for unification and cooperation of the countries of Africa in all areas of human activity.

The basis of the celebration of the International Day of Africa lies in the need to inform the public about various aspects of African culture, which is developing a sense of tolerance and thereby fighting against racial and ethnic discrimination.

The host country of this year’s celebration was Libya.
