The Republic of Macedonia formally celebrated the 25th anniversary of the referendum in which citizens voted for an independent and sovereign state at the National Theatre in Belgrade. The occasion also marked 20 years of diplomatic relations with Serbia.

“With today’s reception and the guest performance of the Macedonian opera and ballet with the contemporary ballet performance “14 hours”, the Embassy of Macedonia is celebrating the Independence Day of our country and two decades since the establishment of friendly diplomatic relations with Serbia. Just as culture has the power to destroy all barriers, so sincere good neighbourly relations build new bridges of cooperation that lead towards the common goal of a creative, modern and prosperous Europe,” said H.E. Vera Jovanovska-Tipko, Ambassador of Macedonia to Serbia.

The performance was attended by representatives of political life, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as Serbia’s cultural and public workers.
