The Italian Embassy in Belgrade celebrated the Italian Republic Day with a distinguished gathering, highlighting the strong and growing relationship between Italy and Serbia. The event was attended by esteemed guests including the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, representatives from the National Assembly and the Government of Serbia, and other dignitaries.
Ambassador of Italy to Serbia, H.E. Luca Gori, alongside his wife Eugenia, welcomed the guests, emphasizing the significance of 2nd June as a day for all Italians to celebrate their shared values of freedom, peace, equality, democracy, and solidarity.
This year’s celebration holds special importance as it marks three significant anniversaries in the relations between Rome and Belgrade: 145 years of diplomatic relations, 15 years since the signing of the bilateral Strategic Partnership, and 100 years since the laying of the first stone of the Italian Embassy in Belgrade.
Ambassador highlighted the positive developments in Italy-Serbia relations over the past year, noting strengthened political ties marked by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to Belgrade, and institutional ties with the opening of offices for Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, SIMEST, and SACE in Belgrade.
Economic cooperation has also flourished, evidenced by the successful Italy-Serbia Business Forum in Trieste, where agreements worth 500 million euros were signed. Scientific collaboration was bolstered through the Innovation Forum organized in Belgrade, and cultural ties were celebrated with events such as Stefano Bollani’s concert at Kolarac and Michelangelo Pistoletto’s exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade.
The event underscored the deepening bond between Italy and Serbia, celebrating their shared achievements and looking forward to continued cooperation and mutual growth.
