Receiving the recognition of the French Order of Arts and Letters in a crowded hall at the French Embassy, Ivan Medenica emphasised, among other things, that he was raised and lived his whole life in the spirit of the words of Voltaire “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”. He dedicated his award to late Bitef founders Mira Trailović and Jovan Ćirilov.

– All of us here who have received awards are connected by the same theme – encouraging and promoting quality and culture – said Milan Savić upon receiving his prestigious award.

The ceremony at the French Embassy in Belgrade saw these orders of merit presented to our laureate artists by Charge d’Affaires Nicolas Faye.
