Emanuele Giaufret, head of the European Union delegation, hosted a reception celebrating Europe Day, which honours peace and unity on the continent. The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
Giaufret affirmed the EU’s full commitment to supporting the people of Serbia in joining the broader European family to which they belong.

“Join us in building our home, so we can collectively construct a European home that collaborates to tackle the increasingly complex global challenges we face, a European home that welcomes new members,” stated the EU Ambassador to Serbia.
He emphasized his enthusiasm for collaborating with the new Serbian government on current reforms and added that he relies on the Serbian government and its people to help build the European home.

Vučić reiterated that EU membership is Serbia’s unwavering strategic position, unaffected by short-term political changes.
“I believe we can contribute, at least in some areas, to what benefits Europe. Yes, we believe we belong to Europe, and we see Europe as our home. Serbia will stay on the European path, whether popular or not. Sometimes it’s more popular, sometimes less, but it remains our strategic, unwavering position that won’t change with daily politics,” Vučić stated.
The reception at the Botanical Garden began with the national anthems of Serbia and Europe.
