A commemorative postage stamp issuing on the occasion of Africa Day Address by H.E Abdelhamid Chebchoub, Ambassador of Algeria Dean of the Group of African Ambassadors
Dear Mr. Djordjevic, Director of the Post of Serbia and Dear friend, Excellencies the Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives, Dear friends.
On behalf of the Group of African Ambassadors in Belgrade I would like to thank Mr. Zoran Djordjevic and the Post of Serbia for this initiative on the very day of Africa Day and Friendship Day between Africa and Serbia celebration.
This initiative is not a surprise to us knowing Mr. Djordjevic’s bonds of friendship with all African ambassadors and the will he has always demonstrated to promote cooperation between Serbia and the African Countries.
The decision of the Post of Serbia to issue a postage stamp on the theme of Africa Day is a strong symbol of this friendship which will remain throughout the annals of the postage stamp, as its witness.
The postage stamp does not represent only a postal value, nor is solely a collector’s item for philatelists, but it is above all, a memory that conveys throughout centuries the history of humanity, its dramas and successes, its flora and fauna, its technological progress and creative spirit.
This stamp which is issued today is a new piece of evidence which attests to the existence of friendship ties between Africa and Serbia and will help undoubtedly, dear friends, to immortalize this special relationship between our continent and your country.
Also, before concluding I would like to suggest being convinced that my colleagues from the African group of Ambassadors will support the idea, so that we can organize together, right here, an exhibition of the African stamp throughout history.
Thank you for your attention.
