International participants of Althofen Masterclasses held spectacular concerts

The Althofen Masterclasses is an extraordinary annual event that transforms the picturesque town of Althofen, Carinthia, into a hub of musical excellence and cultural exchange.

Each summer, this event draws music students from around the world, offering them the unique opportunity to study under internationally renowned artists who teach at prestigious institutions like the music universities in Vienna, Copenhagen, and Würzburg.

The masterclasses, led by distinguished tutors such as Johannes Fleischmann (violin), Aida-Carmen Soanea (viola), Margit Klaushofer (voice), Elisabeth Plank (harp), Toke Møldrup (violoncello), and Dominik Wagner (double bass), are the heart of this event. These educators are not only masters in their fields but also active performers who bring a wealth of experience and insight to their teaching. They guide students through an intensive period of skill refinement, fostering an environment rich in creativity and artistic development.

During these two inspiring weeks, Althofen becomes a vibrant cultural center where the lines between education and performance blur. Students engage in deep, creative exchanges with their peers and professors, while the public is invited to participate in the experience. Music lovers and aspiring musicians alike can attend open masterclasses, interact with the artists, and enjoy a series of concerts held in the charming old town of Althofen and its surroundings. These performances showcase the exceptional talents of both the students and their esteemed tutors, offering a rare glimpse into the process of musical mastery.

The event culminates in a Gala Concert, a highlight of the Althofen Masterclasses, where participants compete for various awards, adding an exciting element of recognition to the intense period of study. This final celebration of music underscores the event’s commitment to fostering talent and promoting cultural exchange.
