The unspoken ability to espouse functionality and beauty, which today characterises Italian designers, has its roots back in the Renaissance “botteghe”, where craftsmanship and art were inseparable ingredients of the creative process. Italian design – thanks to its ability to absorb new technologies, new materials and new concepts – is recognised worldwide as a leader in fashion, architecture, urban planning, interiors, graphics and all other forms of design.

Industrial development during the period of World War I made it possible the rise of the principle of industrial design: design could become serial!
