To help combat the global pandemic of the Covid-19 virus, three Carlsberg foundations have donated around $ 13.8 million (95 million Danish kroner), most of which goes to researchers working on a new virus finding a cure.

With this donation, the Carlsberg Foundation, the New Carlsberg Foundation and the Tuborg Foundation will contribute to virus research, as well as to the revitalization of cultural institutions in the aftermath of the global crisis, as well as to support young people involved in civil protection projects.

The donation decision was made in accordance with the Foundation’s mission, which provides assistance whenever a society faces serious challenges. Through the Carlsberg Foundation, aimed at encouraging and supporting groundbreaking research for a better future, the bulk of this funding has been awarded to three key international Covid-19 virus research projects. These projects will contribute to a better understanding of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Covid-19 viruses, as well as an understanding of human behaviour during the epidemic, in order to raise readiness to cope with these situations globally in the future.
