Importance of Working Time Management

Establishing working time management enables a company to glean objective and timely insight into hours worked, absences and other required categories

Špica Centar is one of the leading integrators of systems and solutions in the areas of Workforce Management (WFM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM), in which they successfully implement modern solutions for time and access control, warehouse management and support for mobile sales and management.

Špica Centar is a part of the Špica Group, a regional group of companies: in Slovenia, where the headquarters of Špica International is located, in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Montenegro. It is also present in 24 countries of the EMEA region through a network of partners. The Špica Group employs more than 100 people in total.

How does working time management increase a company’s productivity?

– Firstly, in order to manage time, you have to measure it. If you know that labour productivity is the ratio of production achieved, or other measurable activities, to the number of worker hours, or hours worked, then you will not be surprised that solutions for recording, managing and analysing working time are among the most important in leading world companies. New technologies and digitalisation of business have greatly influenced the change in the way the companies work, especially in the direction of optimisation and automation of business processes. Establishing the process of managing of working hours, with the application of modern software solutions, enables an objective, transparent and timely insight into planned and realised hours, absences or other categories and events that the company wants to follow.

Modern organisations have a tendency to integrate time-management solutions with HRM and Payroll software

In industrial production, it’s the ‘job costing’, the monitoring of working hours by the cost centre or the type of work that the employee performs at that place of work. In modern organisations, there is a tendency to integrate HRM and Payroll Software, which completely eliminates human factor errors, relieves employees’ time for other work, and provides the company with traceability of the complete process.

What is it on the market that sets apart the Time&Space system for keeping track of time and access control, which Špica has been developing, producing and implementing for more than 30 years.

– Time&Space is the only regional solution for working time management that has the official SAP certification for integration, which says a lot about the care with which it has been continuously developed over the past thirty years. The solution is unlimited in its number of users, the number of registration collection terminals, the number of categories, or the types of report that a user can receive.

Reporting is a very important process for decision-makers. Regardless of whether the Time&Space solution is integrated with other solutions, reporting has always had particular attention in our company. We are the only ones with a report generator that allows the user to design and create desired reports without any IT knowledge. In addition, we have recognized the importance of using BI solutions for decision support, so in the latest versions there is a built-in data analytics module, so the data is ready for use through other tools in the company’s ERP solution.

The Time&Space solution has been applied in over 3,000 companies in the 27 EMEA countries, where more than a million employees record their working hours each day at over 20,000 terminals. In Serbia, for example, we have one user with almost 9,000 employees, while another has more than 270 locations with real-time records on the company’s centralized server.

You won a prize for the top logistics project in 2018. What challenges do modern logistics meet in the supply chain? What changes has this area brought to Industry 4.0?

– In addition to the SLA Award for a Logistics Project in 2018 – for the voice management solution in DC Delhaize – Špica is also the winner of the Honeywell Breakthrough Partner prize for 2018. We are actively monitoring the innovations and trends in the field of logistics, and generally in the field of solutions for optimization of supply chain processes.

The Time&Space solution has been applied in more than 3,000 companies in the 27 countries of the EMEA region

The fourth industrial revolution, nowadays generally called Industry 4.0, has brought and still brings major changes. Let’s not forget that we are well into talks about Industry 5.0, either as an answer to Industry 4.0 or as a new concept.

The challenges faced by modern logistics in the supply chain are numerous, processes and documentation are digitised, which requires warehouses to be digitised. Špica offers advanced solutions that enable efficient process automation in the warehouse, accurate information on actual stock status, just in time stocks, delivery management solutions, and advanced analytics applications.
