Olga Đurić Perić, Director of Asmec Consultants d.o.o.

We Are a One-stop Shop

Asmec Consultants d.o.o. (Ltd.) is a company that designs residential buildings, hotels, offices, sports facilities, factories, warehouses, bridges and other structures, as well as providing supervision and project management services… From its inception, the company’s aim has been to design projects that are economical, safe and durable

While road and rail infrastructure are important, the Asmec Consultants team believes that they are interconnected and must go hand-in-hand with improvements to social infrastructure. Expertise, quality and respect for deadlines are the best recommendations for them.

Are expertise, quality and respect for deadlines the best recommendations for you?

– Correct. Within its portfolio, Asmec has of all these qualities. We also have capacities in designing hospitals, schools and bespoke structures for online shopping companies.

Our forte is in design and project management, while we have limited experience in site supervision. We are proud to say that we receive positive feedback from our clients regarding the quality of our work and our respect for deadlines.

Furthermore, we believe that another important recommendation is that we are a “one-stop shop”, given that we are a multidisciplinary company that comprises structural, mechanical, electrical and telecommunications engineers, as well as sprinkler and environmental specialists.

Finally, we believe that a significant recommendation is that we encourage our team to create innovative solutions.

We are proud to be involved in renovating these public buildings to make them part of a more sustainable future

You’ve worked on projects for a bridge over the Kolubara river and several smaller bridges along Corridor 11. What were the greatest challenges of these projects?

– Asmec designed bridge structures along Sector 1, Section 3 of Highway E763 in collaboration with companies ProInzenjering and CPV. During the design stage, one of the challenges was to come up with structures that are durable and require low maintenance during operations. This was achieved by using integrated/frame structures. Furthermore, in order to improve buildability on site, we applied a standardised approach to the bridge structure where possible. We went further on the Kolubara bridge, with the challenge of streamlining construction by working closely with the contractor to customise the design according to their specialised methodology.

You are part of the “Arup” team for the Road Rehabilitation and Safety – Technical Assistance Project, which is responsible for bridges. Could you tell us more about this project?

– This project encompasses the entire road network of Serbia, around 1,100 km. It aims to enhance road safety by improving road design and renovating existing roads and bridge structures. Technical assistance covers all phases of the project, spanning from inspections of the existing network to evaluation reports of works undertaken. Furthermore, Arup is involved in introducing environmental and social safeguards to the project: for example, conducting road safety surveys around schools.

While road and rail infrastructure is important, we believe that they are interconnected and need to go hand-in-hand with improvements to social infrastructure. Asmec is working on projects to upgrade the energy efficiency of schools, libraries, clinics and health centres.
