New Facility for Serbia’s Largest Private Ophthalmology Hospital Opens in Belgrade

The new facility of the Special Hospital for Ophthalmology “Klinika Miloš”, the largest private eye hospital in Serbia, has officially opened in Belgrade. This state-of-the-art facility will offer exclusive services such as corneal transplants, laser vision correction using the latest technology, implantation of multifocal lenses, treatment of severe trauma, complex retinal detachments, and glaucoma drainage implants, as well as microendoscopic tear duct surgeries.

Klinika Miloš”, part of the MediGroup healthcare system, is now located at Vidska 24, in an impressive space spanning 2,500 square metres. The clinic, a pioneer in ophthalmological innovations and new technologies with 25 years of tradition, trust, dedication, and expertise from top ophthalmologists, is also a significant centre for ophthalmologist education through the Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme. It is especially noted for its biennial international symposiums, attended by more than 800 ophthalmologists from the entire region.

At the inauguration ceremony, the ribbon was symbolically cut by Marijana Vasilesku, General Director of the MediGroup system, Marija Rabrenović, Operational Director of the MediGroup system, and Professor Dr Zora Ignjatović, Director of “Klinika Miloš”, officially marking the start of operations at the new location.

Marijana Vasilesku highlighted that “Klinika Miloš” sets the standards in the field of ophthalmology, with continuous improvement of doctors and medical staff, and the use of the most modern equipment. “We are proud that citizens now have access to the most modern ophthalmology hospital in one place, in line with the highest global standards. An exceptional expert team, with the help of the latest technology and equipment, will continue to dedicatedly care for eye health. By opening the new unified location of ‘Klinika Miloš’, we confirm our mission – comprehensive, high-quality healthcare with increased accessibility of our services,” Vasilesku stated.

The new hospital also features a special department for paediatric ophthalmology, with a Strabismus Centre headed by Dr Milorad Ljutica, a renowned expert in this field of ophthalmology in the region and beyond. Additionally, the clinic continues to apply its extensive experience in using the FEMTO laser for vision correction, cataract surgeries with the implantation of the latest multifocal lenses, and glaucoma surgery. It also performs DMEK and PKP methods for keratoplasty or corneal transplantation, in collaboration with globally recognised American eye banks, ensuring maximum results and safety. For decades, “Klinika Miloš” has restored vision to blind patients suffering from diabetes, severe eye trauma, and complex retinal detachments from across the region.

As a pioneer in Serbia in applying new corneal transplantation methods, “Klinika Miloš” performs up to 100 such operations annually. Moreover, it offers new microendoscopic procedures, making it the only clinic to provide this unique method for tear duct surgery.
