MediGroup Appoints Marijana Vasilescu As The New CEO

MediGroup, the leading private healthcare company in Serbia appoints Marijana Vasilescu as the new CEO, starting 1st of April 2023. Marijana’s arrival is another confirmation of the MediGroup strategic direction towards strengthening its leadership position in private healthcare sector in Serbia.

Marijana Vasilescu, highlighted that leader’s role that MediGroup has, brings the liability to improve the entire segment of the private medical service. Her team will also continue to invest in state-of-the-art equipment and education the medical and technical staff.

„It is my great honour that I’m taking the role of the new CEO of the largest private healthcare system in the region. I am grateful to my predecessor for bequeathing me a system that is synonymous with quality medical services in Serbia. At the same time, this position brings huge amount of responsibility, but also motivation to keep rising the bar in terms of standards and innovations in our industry. Introducing the most modern therapies and maintaining a high quality of service will remain the key to the development of the MediGroup system. I really hope that my experience in corporate and financial sector will contribute to MediGroup achieving all goals and further growth”, said Marijana Vasilescu.

Vasilescu, who is one of the leading experts in the field of growth management, digital transformation, strategic repositioning of companies, expressed great satisfaction that after years of working in the financial sector, she’s moving to healthcare.

MediGroup is the largest private healthcare system in Serbia and region.

Marijana Vasilescu has a vast experience in banking and FMCG sector. Until 2022 she was CEO of the Sberbank Czech Republic, while from 2013 to 2021 she was Board Member and CEO of Sberbank Serbia. Her international experience also comes from her previous roles as Board Member in the Home Credit Bank in Kazakhstan, as well as within Royal Bank of Scotland in Romania and RBS in Moscow.

Prior to her career in banking sector, she held several executive roles in FMCG industry in Romania and region of Eastern Europe.

Vasilescu graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest with a master’s degree in Business & Marketing. She also has an Executive MBA from the London Business School.

Various health services from 40 medical fields, as well as a wide range of laboratory procedures and more than 1.900 medical employees and consultants, are available at more than 75 locations throughout Serbia.
