During the 85 years of its existence, the International Agricultural Fair has become an institution in and of itself. What are all the areas that reflect its significance?
The International Agricultural Fair is the largest and most significant agricultural event in Central and South-Eastern Europe. Its modern concept provides an incentive for international and economic cooperation, integrating improvements in knowledge, production and scientific progress.
Furthermore, it promotes the importance of innovation and represents a synthesis of the experience and achievements of Serbian agriculture, provides strong support to the Serbian economy, and its achievements are also measured through the success of its participants.
Business and professional events that serve to cover trending topics, exchange knowledge and experience are extremely important. The agricultural fair provides strong support to the Serbian economy. How many large and important business deals are made there?
The Novi Sad Fair is held in May and it gathers all the important stakeholders in agro-business from this part of Europe, along with representatives of other branches relying on agriculture. The business agreements made at the Fair are of key importance to economic development. As much as 20 per cent of the annual turnover of agricultural machinery in Serbia occurs at the Agricultural Fair, and the contracts and deals made are measured in hundreds of millions of euros.
Particular attention among the visitors to the 85th Agricultural Fair is expected to be elicited by the offer of exhibitors from Russia, who will present the latest drones and relevant software for agriculture.
Are the latest technological and scientific achievements in agriculture, presented at the Fair, available to our agricultural producers?
The Agricultural Fair simultaneously presents the latest scientific achievements in agriculture and the opportunities for applying science in agriculture. One of the necessary steps in improving production and increasing profit is acquiring new knowledge and applying information technologies.
Satellite-guided agricultural machinery has been presented at the fair several years ago, while visitors today show great interest in innovation and “smart farms”. Information technologies are underutilized in agricultural production in Serbia, but there are buyers among domestic visitors for everything that is on offer.
Exhibitors come from the farthest reaches of the globe. Did you attract any new ones this year, whose goods and services were not previously available to visitors of the Fair?
Between 15 and 21 May the Novi Sad fair will promote products and services from 60 countries, with approximately 1,500 exhibitors. Firms and companies from 28 countries have applied for direct participation. There will be significantly more companies from Turkey, Ukraine and Italy, along with companies from Russia, Great Britain and Luxembourg, who were absent last year.
Offers will also be promoted by companies from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Croatia, India, Israel, China, Hungary, Macedonia, Germany, Republika Srpska, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.
